Superbowl Sunday is fast approaching and I’m already trying to decide what I’m going to make. A little fun fact for you, the Superbowl is the second biggest day in food consumption. Of course number one is Thanksgiving. This didn’t surprise me too much, since my favorite part about the Superbowl is the food. Well I take that back it’s the football….or commercials….or the half-time show. Honestly I just can’t decide, I love the day! I grew up in a football loving family!
Today I’m showing you my recipe for simple, easy sliders. These are quick to make and are the perfect finger food. Plus everyone loves them. Mix them up with toppings and different types of cheeses. You could even have a slider bar.
I’m making these with ground sirloin, topped with bacon, mustard, pickles, and cheese. I used two different cheeses, American and provolone. A few topping suggestions would be carmelized onions, sauteed mushrooms, chipotle mayo, bread and butter pickles, jalapenos, blue cheese, the possibilities are endless.
Now all that’s left to do is make yourself some sliders and enjoy the game!
Game Day Sliders
- 2 lbs ground sirloin
- Steak seasoning
- 2 packages Sweet Hawaiian rolls
- 8 slices of bacon, cooked crisp
- American cheese
- Provolone cheese
- 3 tablespoons butter
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- Pickle slices
Form 16 small hamburgers out of the ground sirloin. Making about the size of your slider bun. Season both sides with steak seasoning
Cook in large cast iron skillet in two batches. Cook at medium heat for 4 to 5 minutes per each side, or until desired doneness.
Top with your choice of cheese for the last minute, and cover pan to let cheese melt.
In microwave safe bowl, melt butter and add garlic powder. Brush top of rolls with melted butter.
Place under broiler in oven for 1 to 3 minutes. Watching carefully they do not burn.
Top your sliders with mustard, bacon, pickles and cheese. Or whatever toppings of your choice.
